Our professional treatment team includes Registered and Licensed Occupational Therapists, Certified Hand Therapists, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and specially trained Therapy Aides.

Vicky Adams OTR/L, CHT has been the director of Newport Hand Center since 1990.  She graduated from the University of Southern California in 1982 with a degree in Occupational Therapy. Her career started in general rehabilitation and she began specializing in Hand Therapy in 1987, when she worked at the first renowned hand center in Southern California treating severe industrial injuries, in collaboration with an internationally recognized teaching Hand Surgeon.  Vicky became one of the first in the nation to be awarded the designation of "Certified Hand Therapist" in 1991.  She has presented educational seminars to colleagues and the local community and has maintained active rolls in her professional societies.  She has refined her clinical skills and has become an expert in the fabrication of splints/orthosis for the upper extremity.
Amy Patton-Rue, COTA earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Physical Therapy from San Diego State University in 2004.  She also received a degree in Applied Sciences in Occupational Therapy from Santa Ana College, and became a Board Certified and CA State Licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant.  She has been working as an COTA since 2009 and joined Newport Hand Center in 2011.  She also has years of experience working as an aide in various PT and OT clinics in Southern California.  Her greatest joy is getting to know patients and helping them lead productive, independent, and functional lives.
Amy Liu, Occupational Therapy Aide earned two Bachelor of Arts Degrees from the University of California Irvine in 2012:  the first in Psychology Cognitive Science and the second in Sociology.  She also interned at Hoag Hospital and graduated from the Clinical Care Extender program in 2012, with volunteer and observation experience in several departments, including Occupational Therapy.   Her Occupational Therapy experience included Neurological Outpatient Therapy, Hand  Therapy, and Rehabilitative Inpatient Therapy.  Her long term goal is to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy, and to attend an Occupational Therapy program where she will earn a Master's Degree in OT.

Lynda Henderson, Business Manager came to the Newport Hand Center in  2009 with over 19 years of front office experience.  Her prior experience included managing the business offices of three therapy clinics in Southern California.  She also worked in managed care and clinical settings.  She is an expert in working with insurance companies, as well as in billing and coding for rehabilitation services. Lynda is the primary contact for all questions regarding insurance policies and reimbursement. 

                          The CHT Credential
Recognized by many health care professions as a benchmark  for excellence in the advanced practice of upper extremity rehabilitation. The credential is awarded to an Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist who has a minimum of five years clinical experience, including 4,000 hours of direct hand therapy.  In addition, the CHT has successfully passed a comprehensive test of advanced clinical skills and theory in upper extremity treatment. Due to advancements in the profession, every CHT is required to demonstrate continued professional development by recertifying every five years.
